Code of Conduct

Standards and expectations for all MSA Youth Academy leaders.

Section 1

Duty to Troops

  • Prioritise the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual safety of every troop.
  • Serve as a faithful role model, embodying Islamic values in word, action, and attitude.
  • Treat every troop with respect, compassion, and dignity, recognising their individuality and potential.
  • Maintain active supervision at all times — stay alert, engaged, and present during sessions. Troops must never be left unsupervised. Be aware of group dynamics, safety risks, and individual needs.
Section 2

Living the Values of MSA

  • Uphold and model the four pillars of MSA: Mental, Emotional, Environmental, and Spiritual Resourcefulness.
  • Inspire troops to develop sincere connection to Allah (SWT), the Qur’an, the Prophet (SAWA), and Ahlul Bayt (AS).
  • Emphasise discipline, humility, sincerity (ikhlāṣ), and service (‘amal) in all interactions.
Section 3

Religious Conduct

  • Be committed to the observance of Islamic principles, including modesty in dress and conduct, respect for prayer times and Islamic etiquettes, and language free from backbiting, mockery, or idle talk.
  • Actively encourage emotional faith (الإيمان العاطفي) — connecting hearts to the mosque, to du‘ā’, and to the community.
Section 4

Professional Behaviour

  • Maintain appropriate conduct and boundaries at all times. Never be alone with a troop in a secluded area. Avoid physical contact unless necessary for safety and in line with Islamic manners.
  • Never engage in bullying, mocking, yelling, physical punishment, or manipulation.
  • Refrain from using mobile phones during sessions except for emergencies, timekeeping, authorised coordination, or MSA-approved photography.
  • Remain fully present and attentive.
  • Attend all sessions consistently and provide early notice if unable to attend.
Section 5

Leadership — The 5 P’s

  • Punctuality — Be on time and support a smooth program start and flow.
  • Prepared — Plan and bring all materials with your session goals in mind.
  • Productive — Use time effectively and help troops grow.
  • Polite — Show Islamic manners (adab) and mutual respect.
  • Positive — Create a hopeful, encouraging atmosphere.
Section 6

Teamwork & Coordination

  • Collaborate respectfully with the Group Leader (GL), Assistant Group Leader (AGL), Coordinators, and Admin Team.
  • Accept feedback with humility and offer advice with sincerity.
  • Attend leadership meetings and team discussions. Consistent involvement is expected.
Section 7

Communication & Social Media

  • Communicate with troops and parents professionally, clearly, and respectfully.
  • Avoid private one-on-one digital messaging with troops.
  • Do not share any content involving troops without official permission.
Section 8

Responsibility & Trust

  • Honour the amānah (trust) of the troops and their families.
  • Keep private matters confidential.
  • Care for all MSA property and equipment.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and consistent in your role.
Section 9

Representation of MSA

  • Represent MSA with dignity, professionalism, and sincerity.
  • Reflect the mission of MSA Youth Academy in all actions.
  • Avoid any conduct that could damage MSA’s reputation or unity.
Section 10

Commitment to Growth

  • Seek personal tarbiyah — develop spiritually, ethically, and educationally.
  • Participate in training, feedback sessions, and reflections.
  • Always strive to embody the hadith: “He who teaches knowledge and acts upon it will be called great in the heavens.”

Not adhering to this code of conduct will result in a formal discussion with MSA leadership.
